27 varsities, 169 athletes to participate: Vice-Chancellor

Srinagar, Jan 28 (KNO): The Central University of Kashmir (CUK) is set to host the All India Inter-University Winter Games at Gulmarg on January 30 and 31, with participation from 27 universities across the country, varsity top management said on Tuesday. A total of 169 athletes, along with their coaches and support staff, will compete in the event, they said. Addressing the media, CUK Vice- Chancellor Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said the university is proud to organize such a prestigious event, which will elevate its identity on a national level. He said that the initiative is a step towards enhancing the university’s reputation and promoting Kashmir as a prime destination for winter sports. Prof. Nath was joined by Dean Academic Affairs Prof. Shahid Rasool and other officials during the press briefing. The Vice-Chancellor also encouraged students from Jammu and Kashmir to apply for the university’s postgraduate programs through the CUET, with the application deadline set for February 1. He highlighted the benefits of the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which focuses on learner-centric education, creating opportunities for higher studies, employment, and entrepreneurship. “We are working on the three E’s – Educate, Enrich, and Empower – to provide a transformative experience for students. Our university is dedicated to building infrastructure, with two proposed hostels of 1,000-capacity each, and implementing nine best practices to enhance the academic environment,” he added. Similarly, varsities Dean Academic Affairs Prof. Shahid Rasool said that the event is an effort to integrate and connect universities across the nation while promoting Gulmarg and Kashmir as premier winter destinations. He also noted its alignment with the vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047,” aiming to strengthen national integration through such initiatives—(KNO)
